During a recent event, Hero MotoCorp confirmed that it will be increasing the ex-showroom prices of all the motorcycles in its portfolio, starting from January 1, 2018. According to the company, this hike will be implemented in order to offset the rising input costs. A price hike of Rs 400 per model is expected. However, the exact number will largely depend upon the model and its specific market. Only a few days ago, the company revamped the Hero Super Splendor and the Hero Passion Pro and re-introduced the Hero Passion XPro. The updated Super Splendor now sports a 125cc engine, which is seen in the new Glamour. It produces 11.4PS of power and 11Nm of torque. Earlier this year, Hero MotoCorp had discontinued the Passion X-Pro along with other products in a bid to tweak its portfolio to favour upcoming scooters and premium motorcycles. Headquartered in Gurugram, the company has been facing heat from its erstwhile partner Honda off late. To give a boost to the commuter range, Hero has launched the 2018 Passion X-Pro in our market. Deliveries for the new bike will commence from the first week of January 2018.The Passion X-Pro is a more powerful version of the Passion Pro and gets a 110cc engine as opposed to the latter’s 100cc mill. Hero is finally getting things right. According to couple of new launches from the brand, it suggests that it has finally its own engine and chassis technology to make sure it is clear of Honda’s dependence. Despite a dip in its sales volume, homegrown two-wheeler manufacturer Hero MotoCorp reported a 33% surge in its net profit to Rs 750.34 crore for the quarter ended June, as the company’s input costs declined largely because of a fall in raw material prices. The company’s sales fell 4.2% on year to 16.45 lakh units in the April-June quarter. As a result, its turnover also declined 1.2% to Rs 6,955 crore. Cost of materials consumed during the quarter fell nearly 4% on year to Rs 4,869.43 crore. Slowing demand from rural markets due to an uncertain monsoon during the period under review and rising competition in the commuter motorcycle market affected Hero MotoCorp’s sales in the quarter. Hero MotoCorp has showcased special off-road version of their 100cc commuter motorcycle called the Passion Pro TR at the 2014 Auto Expo. The Passion Pro TR gets subtle changes to the exterior and equipment to make it compatible with off-roading situations. Visually the Hero Passion Pro TR retains the same body; however there have been additions which include on-off tyres, sturdier handlebars with cross brace, high front fender, hugger front fender, headlight grille, hand guards for added protection, bash plate and fuel tank pads.
